3. The city of Splendora, was founded, and for a brief time was named Cox's Switch.

The Porter Fire Department Cooked And They Came
The idea was born, while watching tv-
Through the vision of Porter Fire ChiefJody Binnion, in East Montgomery County..
To feed the hungry in a unique way-
Before long the plans for an event were underway.
With 400 pounds of deermeat donated,the firemen got busy preparing a stew
-Feeding many hungry, before the eventwas over and through.
The First Annual Firemen & Hunters AgainstHunger, on March 29, 2008 was a success-
A generous, well thought out event, with the whole East MontgomeryCounty community, invited asspecial guests.
